2010 // Semi-Permanent

Semi-Permanent has just finished. 2 day of wonderful speaker who are so inspiring its amazing the work that these people are pumping out. I walked into semi-permanent knowing limited people who were going to be speaking. I kind of didn't really research them before hand cause I wanted to go in and kind of get a suprise at the work that I would be shown. I don't know if this was a cool idea or not.. but it was interesting people that i was excited about seeing really didn't stand out to me as much as some of the people who i had no idea about. It was also really interesting this year and a lot more range of different people from different areas of design. But still i think i enjoyed the people that where involved in graphic design the best. The reason that i just absoultly love going there even like this year where i had no idea who was really going to speak is when you come out you just want to go home and sit on your computer for days on end pumping out awesome graphic designs and just getting all the ideas you have worked up during whole event out. I don't really have the time to do that considering i have assignment all due in next but hopefully that inspiration will come through in my designs. So excited for next year!

Favourite speakers:

Jessica Hische, she seems like the awesome girl next door that you just want to be your best friend. So sweet and nice and her designs speak for themselves. AMAZING, she really set the standard from so early on. jessicahische.com

The Light Surgeons, i think what inspired me most about this company was there old school way of designing. Going back and talking about old films from when his mum was a chid and when he was a child. Old slides. I just feel in love with all the older materials that he was using, honesting going out to get some of this stuff and start learning and creating with it. thelightsurgeons.co.uk

Buck, awesome presentation. I am so jealous of there studio culture and they way that they get along with each other they seem like a really tight group who are producing some amazing stuff! buck.tv

Storm Thorgerson, he actually reminded me so much of my Grandad which was so sweet. The way that they can talk away for hours and hours on one tiny little thing and just taking no shit. Oh but honestly, do i even have the words right now. These images that he has created, honestly out of this world. The way he bulids them, like not using photoshop but going out there actually doing what he want to have photographed. Wow, like he said he would stand back from the work when he was doing it and actually couldn't believe what he was seeing in front of him. I can totally understand why he thought this, the images just speak for themselves, INSAIN! stormthorgerson.com
